Our Client
Our client was an existing self-storage operator in the Midlands adding a further site to their portfolio and required a security system that could be scaled with future growth. Their sites comprised a mix of container and traditional internal storage facilities and the solution needed to be flexible enough to work across all types of facility. The new installation site was split into four separate areas, each with its own unique requirements.
The Securus Solution
We worked with the specialist fitters to design a system and process of works that met the needs of the client and enabled us to fit around the schedule of works and timelines for other contractors. The system comprised:
- An IP Based CCTV system, providing comprehensive coverage of the facility and accessible remotely via web browser or App;
- Open Tech Alliance Access Control provision to the main site entrance and exit points for customers with access control managed using PIN codes, proximity readers or a combination of each;
- Magnetic door contacts on all customer storage units and fire exits;
- A site-wide PA system, utilising CCTV camera-based speakers, providing the ability for staff or a remote monitoring service to communicate with customers or intruders directly on site;
- Customer Help Points inside the facility, allowing customers to contact staff via pre-programmed telephone numbers should they require assistance, in scenarios such as becoming stuck inside the building or become unwell and needing help;
- Remote monitoring of the unit alarms and CCTV system through a Remote Monitoring Service to provide “out of hours” keyholder response.
- Ongoing service plan covering the Open Tech Alliance system, with working hours telephone support, annual onsite maintenance and servicing, call Point SIM card charges included and a remote CCTV monitoring and keyholder response service.
We produced indiviual system design plans for each of the four areas, creating the most efficient approach to providing 100% visual coverage alongside the physical security measures deployed.
Technology Used
We used a range of technology to work alongside the Open Tech Alliance solution, including:
- 4MP Turret IP Cameras with IR illumination for low light level functionality;
- 4MP Bullet IP Cameras with IR illumination for low light level functionality;
- An 8-channel NVR Recorder to provide on-site recording and live camera feed to an on-site office monitor;
- A small server PC to run the access control software;
- A USB Desktop Enrolment Reader for use in enrolling proximity fobs or cards onto the system;
- Magnetic door contacts across multiple doors;
- Customer help points with GSM connectivity;
Outcome
Our client has a fully-operational security and access control solution for their self-storage facility that can be monitored and operated remotely with an ongoing maintenance solution to ensure it properly serviced and maintained.
